Technology transfer is the process of making state-funded research conducted by our universities available to entrepreneurs who can take innovative products and ideas and turn them into new employment opportunities for Oregonians. As counsel for the Oregon University System, the Oregon Department of Justice plays a key roll in this process. In February, the Department released new emergency regulations to streamline the tech transfer process, and speed the creation of new jobs and send money back to Oregon universities.
Oregon is mired in a deep recession. Unemployment in our state is among the highest in the nation. One of Oregon's greatest long-term challenges will be to develop a more robust, prosperous, and resilient economy.
Attorney General Kroger is committed to fostering a more positive business climate in Oregon. To accomplish this goal, the Department of Justice is partnering with business leaders on a series of initiatives to make Oregon a better place to do business.
